The New Year is here! Let's make 2022 a good one.
Here's a few things you should know...
New Bikes
Thanks to the Casino Night and your overall awesomeness, we were able to purchase 4 new bikes. Which means we now have 8 bikes total! Think of all the workout possibilities now!
Athlete of the Month
Laura Waddell is our athlete of the month! If you know Laura, you know she kills it every day in the gym. When you see her, give a fist bump and tell her she's pretty awesome.
CrossFit Open 2022 Teams
The Open is the beginning qualifying stage for CrossFit Athletes to compete to try and reach the CrossFit Games. So every year CrossFit HQ will release 3 different workouts on Thursday night for 3 consecutive weeks. Athletes then have until the following Monday to do the workout and submit their score. The fun part of this is that you can see where you rank worldwide, even if you have no intentions of qualifying for the CrossFit Games.
We do our own event inside the gym where we pick 3-4 teams, and do the 3 workouts that CrossFit HQ releases each week. Each week, we average each team's scores and compete to be the best team at CrossFit Thelo! This is a blast. Although competition isn't the reason for us working out, it sure makes it a lot more fun at times to throw in a little friendly competition.
We want everyone to participate if this interests you at all. We will program the Open Workouts from CrossFit HQ on the Friday's following the announcement anyway, so you might as well have you score count for a team! We want both RX and Scaled participants. The first workout announcement is February 24th, but we will pick teams a few weeks before that.
Get signed up to be on a team, sign up at the front desk in the gym! If you have any questions, ask your coach!
Competitor's Class - January 15th
We have heard several of you guys mention wanting to do a smaller local competition, but don't know how to find one. And during our regular classes, since our programming is aimed at GPP (general physical preparedness), there are some movements that we don't get to do. These movements are more high skilled and upper level movements (Muscle Ups, HS Walk, Pistols, Squat Snatches, OH Squats, etc.)
This class will be aimed at taking an opportunity to work on some of these things and prepare anyone interested for a competition.
The first Competition Class will be January 15th at 8am, before the 9am Saturday Class, with Coach Kelsea!
