The Gift of 1 Free Month of Gym Membership

This year we are doing something new for Christmas. We are giving every member in our gym a 1 month membership for free to gift to anyone that you choose. We know that coming to the gym for the first time for folks can be intimidating. But coming with a friend can ease that discomfort a bit. Plus, nearly all of you can think of a person that you really wish would come to the gym with you. Well here is your opportunity to offer them a free month on us.

Ideally, you give this free month to someone who you think will actually come try and has potential to become a member, and you would enjoy working out along side. Don't take one to give to your cousin from Utah who's in town for 3 weeks so they can come workout for free while they are here.

We will start giving out these cards on Friday, December 1st. You can pick one up at the Front Desk, and please only get 1.

Winter CrossFit Kids Camp - December 18th-22nd

We are going to have our winter CrossFit Kids week again this year! It will be everyday the week of December 18th - December 22nd @ 9:30am (right after Ignite). The price is $50 for the week. Or if your kids can only make it to couple of classes, it will be $15 per class. You can sign your kids up here!

Nutrition Program & Accountability

You have been asking and we are delivering. Starting January 2024, we are unveiling our Nutrition Program that gives you access to us for 1 on 1 Nutrition Coaching and Accountability. Nutrition is the #1 limiting factor for nearly all of us in our health and fitness, and we want to be able to walk side by side with you to guide you through creating good long term eating habits.

Before we open this up to everyone, we (Kait and John) are going to take on up to 2 members each to work with for a month or 2 at a discounted rate to make sure the app and nutrition system are up to speed. If you are interested in being part of this, shoot us an email and we will reach back out. It will be on first come basis.

Athlete of the Month - Carlton Weathers

Carlton Weathers is our December Athlete of the Month! Fun fact, Carlton has been part of CrossFit Thelo longer than me. He is one of the original members and has been here through the whole journey. He always shows up and works hard, and is always a great person to workout along side. Next time you see Carlton, give him a solid fist bump!

Nutritional Thoughts

We should be generally careful to not over eat following a workout. This can be a bigger issue than we realize because after a workout, especially an intense one, we feel drained of energy and feel the need to eat. And often we over eat.

The problem is that we aren't actually burning as many calories DURING the workout as it feels like. During a normal workout day we do a strength + a 12-18min workout (average for us). This certainly is enough to dramatically improve our cardiovascular fitness, build muscle, and burn some extra calories, but maybe not as many calories as your brain wants to tell you. Perceived Rate of Exertion after a workout can be deceiving! Think about it this way, you can sit at a desk for the entire day then come do a 5min all out sprint workout that leaves you laying the floor gasping for air, and your brain will try to tell you that because of the intensity in that 5min of work that you deserve a large amount of food to "recover", especially sugars. But obviously, that's not true because you spent nearly the entire rest of your day not moving at all. So be aware of this after a workout. This is also why it can be super beneficial to keep track of your food intake so you can trust the numbers instead of feelings. Feelings often lie.

See you in the gym!
