June Updates

June is here! Here's some things we've got that you should know

CrossFit Kids

CrossFit Kids starts next week, June 5th! Kids will meet from 10am - 1045am on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Ages are 5-9. And kids can be signed up here: http://www.crossfitthelo.com/cfkids

Summer Athlete

Our Summer Athlete program also starts June 5th. They will meet Monday - Thursday at 1245 - 145pm for younger athletes (10-14) and 2pm - 3pm for older athletes (15-18). This program is focussed on developing athletes for sports with a mix of speed, power, and core training. It is meant to supplement school workouts as well! To-Go Vacation Workouts

This is new! Every year, you go on vacation but kinda feel like you are missing out on the workouts back home. Not this year. For the Months on June and July (June 5th - July 28th), we are going to program body weight or db only workouts that are very similar to the workout of the day at the gym so that even on your vacation, you can still feel like you are part of the gym.

This is free for all members. The workouts will be posted on sugarwod under a new tab called "WOD To-Go".

No 5:30pm Class Friday - June 2nd

We are going to celebrate Coach Shane Graduating from Fire School this Friday at 530pm at the Apothecary. With that being said, we will only have the 430pm and 330pm classes on Friday. But everyone is invited to come congratulate Shane and hangout at the Apothecary at 530pm.

Front Squat Cycle and June Programming

It is not on the year outlook of programming, however I have deemed is fit to throw in a short front squat cycle starting next week and finishing early July. You can thank me later when you your legs look amazing this summer (more so than they already do).

Other than that, we will continue with our Push Press and Deadlifts. But you will also start to see some workouts shorten up a bit and get a little more intense!

CrossFit Combine (Game Time) - July 8th

Our next CrossFit Combine (originally Game Time) is going to be July 8th! That's a month away, but we are already getting fired about retested our cleans, bench press, jumps, pull ups, and more.

If you missed out last time, try to make it in July!

Casino Night

Casino Night is officially booked for October 14th. The location will again be at the NoAlan. It's one of our favorite events of the year and a great chance to get dressed up and do something out side of the gym with everybody. More details will come as we get closer to time, but go ahead and block your calendar for October 14th!

Athlete of the Month - Jackson Tavel

Jackson Tavel is our June Athlete of the Month! Jackson has been with us for almost 2 years now and it shows. He comes regularly to our afternoon classes. Known as "Deadlift Jackson", he can put up some impressive numbers on most lifts. Little known to many people, Jackson was pitcher in College and a good one at that! Next time you see Jackson, give him a solid fist bump.

Fitness Thoughts:

Exercise is uncomfortable. When you go through a workout, you aren't only training your body physiologically. You're training your mind to be okay with discomfort. And some really incredible things tend to happen in all of life, when you allow yourself to be uncomfortable and do it anyway.
